Electrical I&C Intern at Duke Energy
I, Corey Schmitt, am currently working as an intern with Duke Energy at the Robinson nuclear plant in Hartsville, SC. I am working with the Electrical I & C (Instrument and control) Design team at the plant. The plant is currently in a refueling outage so there isn’t much actual engineering going on, but instead mostly involves the implementation of new designs into the plant while it is off line. I am currently working on the installation of new 4kV breakers into the plant, and on the recovery team involved with the arc flash experienced in one of the new transformers installed at the plant. One fun fact about Duke Energy is that it is the largest power holding company in the world. I have really enjoyed my experience so far and am looking forward to the rest of the summer and the possible future with Duke Energy.
