Maintenance Intern at InVista
I, Nabil Morshed Khan, am working for InVista this summer. I am working as a maintenance intern at one of their sites located in Camden, South Carolina. InVista operates four major businesses globally: Apparel, Polymer and Resins, Intermediates and Performance Surfaces and Materials. The site that I work in, deals with manufacturing polymer for carpeting.
My day to day activities include: attending planning and
scheduling meetings and contributing ideas to make the scheduling of machine repairs more efficient; formulating Gantt charts to make the scheduling of tasks related to mechanical repairs more effective; and, mark up locations of pipes and gaskets in manufacturing areas on drawings to help identify parts that need to undergo overhaul.
InVista runs on ten guiding principles that help its employees be more successful in life. For example, one of the core principles of InVista is safety. Everyday, I would come work at the site and see so much awareness being created on the importance to keeping oneself out of danger such as providing signs for wearing appropriate protective equipment in designated areas. I admire the fact that InVista puts so much thought into its employees and does its best to promote a safe working environment. Another thing to admire about this company is the way team leaders encourage one to promote ideas. No matter what position you hold, any feedback is of utmost importance to them. It teaches you to be respectful, honest and take the initiative. Professional integrity to customers and 100% compliance, 100% of the time, is necessary for a company to strive strong in the long run.
InVista is truly a unique company to work in, especially with the way it holds true to its core values. I am
glad to be a part of such an honorable corporation.
