United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Building Industrial Systems (BIS) Carrier Corporation: Commer

I, Raymond Labrador, am currently an intern for Carrier Corporation as a Sales Engineer Intern for the Charlotte Direct Sales Office (DSO) for the commercial equipment. If I had to describe my current role, it is an inside sales engineer. Inside sales is a position where you do more quoting, project management, and internal logistics for the quoting/ordering for the outside sales people. My main projects that I’m working on include setting up a shared drive for easy file access for the team, keeping up with the plan and spec jobs that come up on a week to week basis, and assisting

with inside support on replacement/design build jobs. Now this lingo that I’m throwing around can be explained like so: plan and spec jobs are when an owner gets a several contractors to bid a price and usually lowest cost wins. Replacement jobs are just that, replacing old equipment, and design build is when you actually get to work with the end user and help them design a building’s HVAC. This is a company that I’ve worked with for 3 summers now, so I really enjoy working for them. There is also so much room for grow within UTC because, they own Otis Elevator, Pratt and Whitney, Sikorsky, and UTAS which is now the largest aviation part manufacturer in the US. This makes working for Carrier all the more beneficial.
